This book tells the story of 2,000 years of life in London revealed at Norton Folgate, which lies just to the north-east of the historic City of London. Excavations, research and building recording have provided a valuable window onto the lives of Londoners living in the area known today as Spitalfields.
This popular book represents a first look at the results of MOLA’s work at the site of Norton Folgate, which has taken place in collaboration with British Land and M3 Consulting ahead of the redevelopment of the site.
Archaeological evidence from the site spans the time between the foundation of London by the Romans in around AD48 and the present day. This book illustrates some of the site’s most significant archaeology, setting it into context within Spitalfields’ rich history.
